Benny got into his first bit of trouble with the neighborhood boys. They went into an abandoned building and left their bikes out front so the cops caught them. He was pretty embarrassed about it so we didn’t make too big a deal out of it. He’s also starting notice girls these days! Lord, help me! He’s above average on all of his academic talents and is doing very well with his saxophone in the school’s music program. He’s such a good kid, that it really surprises me when he gets into trouble! Since then we’ve been talking more about moral issues these days, He’s been talking a lot about what fair and unfair so I’ve been sharing stories about people I know and some situations they’ve gone through to help show him. We’re starting to notice the pre-teen come out though because he now likes to argue with us a little more; nothing too serious, mainly just bedtime, and clothes and things of that nature. There’s more to come I’m sure!

He’s not my little boy anymore…
Benny just celebrated his 11th birthday! Great party and fun was had by all! That 6th grade school year flew right by! It wasn’t as bad as Benny thought it would be, and he actually really enjoyed himself. He is now really into his appearance and is already worried about getting new clothes for next year. He insists on looking good in 7th grade.
Benny in middle school. ahhhh!!!
Benny is getting ready to be a middle schooler! He is growing up too fast, and it’s funny how I can even notice a change in his focus from just a couple years ago. He can concentrate on things much better, which may be why he just keeps getting better and better at math. He’s also very funny and witty these days. We love telling each other jokes. He’s still a shy guy, and I’m thinking that might never change, and he’s now starting to work about going into the 6th grade. Those tales that he’s been hearing are staring to make him nervous.
We got his 5th grade report card and he is doing great. Demonstrates strength in all aspects! A mom can get used to this!
Much needed family time =)
We just got back from a wonderful family vacation from Northern California! Benny and Abby got along so well, and we had had a terrific time. Benny now loves his building projects. That kid will build anything from go karts new parts to the tree house. He’s even going one step further and drawing blueprints for his projects.
Benny has his daddy’s brains ;)
We got a psychologist assessment done on Benny and he scored so well on everything. They said he was gifted in information, vocabulary, similarities and comprehension. He also scored in the gifted range in mathematics and they recommended getting his placed in gifted classes for that.
So Talented
Is there anything this kid isn’t good at? Benny has been taking piano lessons for two years now and can play by ear and read music. He’s also such a good singer and now wants to be in a music program in school. We went and picked out an instrument and it looks like he’ll be mastering the saxophone next!

Smarty farty
They grow too fast!!
I can’t believe how fast these two are growing; Benny is about to finish first grade and Abby is in preschool full time since we’re both working full time now.
Benny’s teacher told me that he is shows strength in mathematical problem solving, reading and writing and speaking and listening. He’s still a shy guy though. He experienced a big disappointment recently as his best friend moved away. He’s been a little mopey, but he’s getting better over time.
My crazy kid ;)
Benny is a poor sport like his daddy. I’ve caught him trying to cheat during games so we’re working with him to show him that it’s wrong. No one wants to play with a cheater. But he told me that I’m nicer to him than the other parents are to their kids. It was the sweetest thing to have him tell me that. He also added that I am stricter, but I think he knows that’s all a part of me loving him.
